26th Annual Civil War Encampment and Living History at the birthplace of Maj. Gen. J. E. B. Stuart, CSA.

Begins at 9:00am, Saturday and Sunday, October 7-8, 2017

Event includes battle reenactments both days.  Live period music.  Authentic Civil War Sutlers.  Food vendors.  

Encampment with authentic Civil War camp sites.  300-400 soldiers in uniform both Union and Confederate.  Battle scenes includes horses and large cannons.

Activities include: Saturday Night Dance, Saturday Candlelight Tour, Ladies dressed in period dress, Sunday morning church service with gospel music and preaching.

The Birthplace Trust will  sell gift items such as books, prints, mugs, T-shirts and much more. 

Authentic Civil War sutlers will be on hand with food and merchandise.  Sutlers and concessionaires include Ole Doc Bell’s period drinks, Southern Traditions fried pies, Windy Hill Orchards local produced apple cider, Stuart Wharton Camp of SCV, old time blacksmith demonstrations, North State Haberdashery military goods, Blackmon Pottery, Mad Hatter children’s toys, Possum Holler Sutlery, Patrick County Historical Society, JEB Stuart Camp 1598 SCV, and more.

This event is sponsored by the Patrick County Tourism office in Stuart, VA.  Our guests from out of town are encouraged to visit Patrick County and “Experience the Simple Life.” 

All proceeds of this event go toward preserving the Birthplace.
