Welcome to the Tourism Website for Patrick County, Virginia!

The County of Patrick was formed in 1791, and is currently home to 18,490 citizens. One third of Patrick County is in the rolling Piedmont plateau and the remaining two-thirds in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains where the Blue Ridge Parkway forms the County's western border with Carroll and Floyd Counties to the north.

The Town of Stuart is the county seat and was named after Patrick County native, General J.E.B. Stuart, renowned Civil War cavalryman, who died at Yellow Tavern at the age of 31 while trying to halt the advance of General Phil Sheridan on Richmond. His birthplace, Laurel Hill is located near Ararat in the western part of our county.
